We’re united around a common purpose: the opportunity of homeownership to all
In 1956, the Clayton brand began when founder Jim Clayton sold his first home and launched the dream of making homeownership attainable for everyone across America. In 1970, Clayton opened the doors of our first home building facility, TRU® Halls, in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Over half a century later, our commitment endures to provide quality, attainable housing while constantly improving the experience for Clayton team members and customers.
Clayton Manufacturing is comprised of 40 modern manufactured home building facilities across the nation. Combining the vast network of knowledge and expertise from our diverse facilities and more than 15,000 valued team members, we construct homes with a resounding commitment to Building Happyness®.
More than 200 skilled team members assemble multiple elements of your Clayton Built® home simultaneously, under one roof. From plumbing and electrical systems to the roof trusses, each step is orchestrated with the right building materials nearby, at the moment they're needed.
The result? Your home is built more quickly, more precisely.
Committed to sustainable practices
Committed to sustainable practices
We're committed to a better way of home building, with environmental practices at the forefront of the way we manufacture homes.
Decreasing waste and water consumption, increasing recycling, and building homes with energy-efficient features are four ways we aim to decrease our environmental impact.
Rising energy costs threaten attainable homeownership. Clayton Home Building Group® is doing something about it.
Meet the most energy-efficient home we’ve ever constructed: the Clayton eBuilt® home. So energy efficient, eBuilt homes can cut annual energy costs by up to 50%1 and are constructed so homeowners can add a renewable solar energy system for even more savings.
